WYD IN SYDNEY: WAKE IN RANDWICK, THE ACCOUNTS OF THE YOUNG (6)

(From our correspondents in Sydney) – Carina Broucek comes from Austria and grew up in a Catholic family, but a certain point in her life, she understood that one has "to love the Lord under all circumstances", not only when "it was more convenient for her". "My schoolmates – she said during the wake – noticed the change I underwent, and started challenging me on the moral teachings of the Church". "I knew – she added – that showing my friends the liberty and the truth of the teachings of Christ would approach them to Him, and I wanted to encourage that". But it was not easy: "I knew what Christ had taught, and I wanted to defend the teachings of the Church, but I didn’t know what to say. Therefore, I asked the Holy Spirit to help me to serve Him and let me introduce Him to my friends". So, "when I found myself again in a debate, I was amazed about what I was able to communicate: words and ideas which I didn’t have before. I don’t know whether some friends of mine approached the Lord thanks to my words, but I rely on the fact that He is the work inside them. And I trust the fact that God enjoys our attempts to defend Him and to love Him as He only may be loved".
