WYD IN SYDNEY: WAKE IN RANDWICK, THE ACCOUNTS OF THE YOUNG (5)

(From our correspondents in Sydney) – At the World Youth Day of Cologne, Jose Carcamo Soto, coming from Chile, realized how many young "were crazy for Christ". Therefore, on going back to his country, he "pledged to witness what he had seen – witness of Christ, witness of faith, witness of the young people of the Church from all over the world". In spite of difficulties, "I realized – he said – that it was not my strength but God’s strength which was burning inside me. And I had been filled up with that strength, which pushed me on. With that strength, I learnt to knock on the door, to ask for something, to fulfil a mission, and to change an ideal into reality". "Tonight – added Jose – is not the end. Our wishes were fulfilled, but our hope does not stop here. The Spirit gives us a new beginning through the fulfilment of every hope". And an invitation, too: "Don’t let hope die down at the end of this World Youth Day. Whatever the difficulties your country has to face are, ask the Spirit for strength, for it to help you to witness Christ".
