WYD IN SYDNEY: WAKE IN RANDWICK, THE ACCOUNTS OF THE YOUNG (3)

(From our correspondents in Sydney) – "A few people might think that deafness brings to isolation and is something to pity. Lots of people think that one deaf person is not able to know the world and its beauty in full. In fact, it’s not like that". Danny Wright, who is from Sydney, talks about his handicap with serenity: "I have always regarded my deafness as a gift, as one of the many gifts which I received from the hands of God". "The gift of deafness – he said – helped me to know the truth, the truth that God created each of us with great love, the truth that God is delighted with the fact that we are all different, and the truth that calls each of us to follow his path". "In my deafness – said Danny, – God let me know what being patient and attentive with respect to all the people everybody considers outcast means. I received the patience and the thoughtful love of Christ; for this reason, I strive to try and let everyone know His patience and His love for the neighbour". "God – concluded Danny – asks us to do ‘only’ what we are able to do. Do not reject the gifts which God gives you; He sends us His Spirit to help us along our path".
