(From our correspondents in Sydney) – "A few years ago Thailand was affected by a serious economic crisis: lots of Thais, including my family, had to face financial problems. I didn’t understand why God was punishing us". Vasin Manasurangul, from the archdiocese of Bangkok, Thailand, recounts his story: how he drifted away from God, and then, how he approached God again. For the boy, "unhappy" with a "Love God" allowing so much "suffering", the turning point happened when he was chosen "as representative of my group at the World Youth Day of 2000". "At the end of the wake liturgy, the Holy Spirit filled up my intellect and I understood how true the words and teachings of the Holy Father were. I asked God to pardon me for not trusting His love", he said. After that World Youth Day, "I never doubted God any longer he stated -. I rely on Him and always believe Him, whatever the sufferings I have to withstand may be. I devoted the last years of my life to spreading a deeper knowledge of truth, the Gospel and the Church in my country. I translate and publish the words and the news of the Church into Thai, always trying to defend it from fake accusations".
