(From our correspondents in Sydney) Attending WYD with a group of European members of Franciscan Youth, Matka Roganov, from Slovenia, told SIR she had the impression that the "Christianity practised in our continent is far more rooted in tradition than that here in Australia: it is transmitted to us by our families and by our parents, but by now it seems to me to be little practised in our lives". Matka says she came to Sydney for many reasons, including that of "bringing our joy, our enthusiasm, and transmitting it to the Australians". It’s the first experience of WYD for the girl and she can’t wait to return home to tell everyone "how wonderful it is to meet so many youngsters from all over the world and to recognize each other as Christians". The Slovene girl admits that "in our countries it’s not always easy to live and bear witness to our faith; at times people don’t understand you, but it’s not shameful to be Christians, we ought not to be afraid of demonstrating it"
