Pope Benedict XVI’s "blessing" to Madrid’s interreligious conference which, thanks to an initiative of the Muslim World League, has gathered about 200 Jewish, Christian and Muslim religious authorities in Madrid between July 16 and 18. Card. Jean Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, conveyed the Pope’s blessing to the Conference. "The Holy Father the Cardinal said when he spoke this afternoon believes that a dialogue founded on love and truth amongst the followers of Judaism, Christianity and Islam is the best way to help turn all peoples of the earth into one single family". "Jews, Christian and Muslims share a common heritage, despite the fact that many chapters of their history have been characterized by misunderstandings, disputes, persecutions and even armed conflicts. But today we can say that Abrahamic dialogue does exist. We can go even further and say that the future of Europe, the Middle East and the entire world depends on the ability for Jews, Christians and Muslims to live together as brothers". "In the global world we live in – Tauran said I might even say that we have been sentenced to be engaged in dialogue". Together, Jews, Christians and Muslims must prove that religions are a source of peace and not of tension and violence"….
