WYD IN SYDNEY: THE HEBREW COLLEGE OF THE CITY OPENS THE DOOR TO 95 PILGRIMS

(From our correspondents in Sydney) – The pilgrims from Timor East, Melbourne and the Philippines, hosted in the rooms of the Hebrew College Shalom, in the Randwick suburb in Sydney, are 95. The person in charge of interreligious dialogue for the Hebrew community, Josie Lacey, is proud and happy about that: "For us, it was natural to welcome those young people by offering them our rooms – she told Sir; – we are a very open community and we have a very good relationship with the Catholic one. Australia is a land where the people have different religious feelings. In those rooms, the pilgrims may enjoy all kinds of comforts, including hot meals, thanks to kitchen use. And they don’t sleep on the ground, of course, because they are hosted inside the institute, which is closed for holidays, at present". "I think the WYD is a good chance to delve into our friendship and acquaintance. It is fair to take advantage of the WYD to develop constructive dialogue between religions", stated Laceyche, and added: "Tomorrow we are meeting representatives of other religions. In the same way as we collaborated for this event, Catholic witnesses will be present at our future events".” ” ” ” ” “
