About 200 young Spanish pilgrims started walking from Salamanca and Castilla on Tuesday, 15th July. The pilgrimage will take them to the Compostela sanctuary; their arrival is scheduled on Thursday, 18 July. Together with the young people of other dioceses, they will celebrate the World Youth Day at the same time with the Sydney event. The meeting is starting on Friday evening, 18th July, with the welcoming ceremony and the wake at the Church of S. Martin Pinario. In the morning of Saturday, 19th July, the organizers fixed a connection with Sydney for the wake with the Pope. The celebration of reconciliation at the Church of the Benedictines and the Holy Mass at the Cathedral of Compostela will follow. During the night between Saturday and Sunday, after a music event, there will be the satellite connection with Sydney again, for the Mass with Benedict XVI. About 5,000 young Spanish are present in Sydney. For those who remained at home, meetings have been set up in El Rocío, Madrid, Javier, and Santiago de Compostela.
