(From our correspondents in Sydney) – The Pope arrived at the Cathedral House of Sydney today, after his stay in Kenthurst, at an Opus Dei house. The Cathedral House is the residence of the archbishop, Card. George Pell. The Pope will remain there until the end of his Australian stay. It was announced by the spokesman of the Vatican Press Room, Father Federico Lombardi, who pointed out that Benedict XVI was "really relaxed". The Pope said the accommodation at the Opus Dei centre was "very appropriate". Today was a "quite calm" day, went on Father Lombardi: among other things, Benedict XVI blessed the first stone of a new building, which is meant to extend the centre where the Pope stayed, and will be devoted to the training of the young. Moreover, he received Card. Pell and the Vatican Secretary of State, Card. Tarcisio Bertone, and "met Australian animals", from pythons to koalas, and from kangaroos to opossums. Furthermore, Benedict XVI greeted the staff which served him in these days, and the police introduced him a very seriously ill colleague of them. Finally, today, too, the Holy Father’s day was cheered up by a concert "of remarkable quality", held by the Opus Dei volunteers operating at the centre.
