(From our Sydney correspondents) – Once again, Benedict XVI is on the front page of today’s Australian dailies, which give extensive coverage to WYD with many pictures also in the following pages. "Papal reflection as the masses gather", is 2The Australian"’s headline, which comments: "As the masses of pilgrims gathered to dance, sing and celebrate their Catholicism in the heart of Sydney", Benedict XVI has spent the day "in isolation and contemplation". In other pages pilgrims are mentioned – 13,000 arrived at the airport yesterday "bringing joy and chaos". The WYD cross carried on shoulder by a crowd of youngsters and the Pope’s stroll with Card. Pell are the pictures in "The Sydney Morning Herald"’s front page, whose headline refers to the words spoken yesterday by the Archbishop of Sydney, with the imperative to "populate or perish". The WYD cross is also on "The Daily Telegraph"’s cover with its headline: "Joyful cross for pilgrims to bear". The Italian Australian newspaper "La Fiamma"’s top story is dedicated to "Sydney celebrating the arrival of the Cross". Starting today, "L’Avvenire" will be available to Italians in Sydney, with a special edition being printed in Sydney for WYD. "No need to wait any longer. From now on it will be WYD", is the front-page headline for the Italian Catholic daily, which dedicates six pages to various reports.
