(From our correspondents in Sydney) 26 cardinals, 400 bishops, and some 4,000 priests, as well as tens of thousands of youngsters, are arriving in Sydney from all over the world and from Australia itself. The opening mass of WYD, to be celebrated today at Barangaroo in Sydney, will be the greatest ever celebrated on Australian soil, but even more important will be the final mass at Randwick with the Pope. This was pointed out by the Most Rev. Anthony Fisher who met with journalists today for the usual morning briefing and also furnished some numbers about the participation in this 23rd World Youth Day. "At the present time 100,000 international pilgrims have already arrived and others are continuing to do so. They come from 170 nations but we are counting on the number of participating nations to rise to 200. Registrations are still open due to the high number of last-minute applications. We are serving 25 million meals and drinks for them". (to be continued)
