(From our envoys in Australia) – SMS with the words of Pope Benedict XVI: it is one of the initiatives for the World Youth Day, started off this morning and meant for all the young people in the world. The Australian company Telstra, a WYD partner, promoted it. It will involve WYD volunteers through voice services and data transmission. There will be about two thousand priests and three thousand journalists. This morning, in Sidney, the multimedia space of the WYD was also inaugurated: it is going to be officially opened next Tuesday. In this area, it is possible to use the Internet and send SMS all over the world, with the Pope’s words. Furthermore, it is possible to register a video singing the formal hymn of the World Youth Day in a special area, located before St. Mary’s Cathedral. Then, it is also possible to receive it in one’s mobile phone. And it is all free. In the city which is going to host the World Youth Day 2008, there will be about 700 places for these multimedia initiatives.
