WYD IN SYDNEY: THE BELGIAN YOUTH’S TREES "AS A SIGN OF THEIR PASSAGE"

(From our correspondents in Australia) – The young Belgians who are in Australia continue their pilgrimage in the dioceses near Sydney, meet the local young people and pray with them. In Maitland, they planted trees, as a sign of their passage and their commitment to the protection of the environment. A few hundred young Belgians are at the WYD of Sydney. The first group, a French-speaking one, left for Australia on July 3rd, after receiving the "appointment" at Mass, officiated by card. Daneels, in Saint Michel’s College in Brussels. For the many young people who have stayed at home, the Belgian Church has organised a meeting in Banneux – which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin –, where, from 18th to 20th July, they can live a "Live from Sydney" experience (info: www.jmj.be).
