(from our correspondents in Australia) They created a "musical" on Mary and in the space of two years succeeded in paying their journey to Australia: they are a group of 80 Swiss youngsters from the diocese of Lausanne, guests in Melbourne for the Days in the Dioceses. "We are animators, catechists but also simple adolescents that frequent the group says Roberto De Col, one of the group leaders and WYD seemed to us too important an occasion: we wanted to be there". The musical, for which the Swiss youngsters composed the texts and the music, has been performed in many towns and cities in Switzerland. Now that they have arrived in Australia De Col emphasizes that "meetings like these can help us to rediscover our faith, but the most important thing is the journey that awaits us on our return. In secularised countries like those of Europe and even in Australia itself he adds it seems there is less faith, but perhaps the problem is not that people don’t believe in God, but that faith has been relegated to the private sphere. Coming to WYD helps us to rediscover how wonderful it is to express our faith openly and share it with other young people".
