Many of the Anglican bishops, who from 16 to 31 July will attend the "Lambeth Conference", the meeting of all the Anglican primates of the world, taking place every 10 years in Canterbury, the historical see of the archbishop of Canterbury, have already arrived in England. This year, the Conference takes place in an extremely awkward atmosphere, just a few days after a "parallel" Conference in Jerusalem from 23 to 29 June, attended by about 300 Anglican bishops dissenting from Canterbury, and one week after the decision taken by the General Synod of the Church of England to start the procedure to allow women to be ordained bishops. Over these days reads a report from the Anglican Communion , from 10 to 15 July the bishops (650 are expected to arrive) are hosted by the 75 Anglican dioceses of England, Wales and Scotland. "It is an extraordinary opportunity says Reverend Mark Rodel who managed the organisation of the event to offer hospitality to our sister churches all over the world". The diocese of Portsmouth, for example, will host the bishops of the Ghana and the United States with their wives. The "Lambeth Conference" will officially start on Wednesday 16th with a plenary opening session. The day after, at 2.30 pm, the archbishop of Canterbury will give his first speech to the assembly.
