ECUMENISM: ONE YEAR AFTER THE EEA3, LETTER FROM CCEE/KEK TO THE PARTICIPANTS

A letter to the participants in the Third European Ecumenical Assembly (EEA3) which took place from 4 to 9 September 2007 in Sibiu (Romania): it was sent yesterday – and revealed today – by mgr. Aldo Giordano and Colin Williams, secretaries general of the Council of the European Bishops Conferences (Ccee) and the Conference of European Churches (Kek), respectively, that from today to 12 July will be in the Romanian town to meet the leaders of the local Churches and public institutions as well as the members of the Sibiu Committee. In the letter, they define as "encouraging" the initiatives started in several European countries to continue the Sibiu process and recall that the joint Cccee/Kek committee, convened in London last February, decided to "keep alive the network of delegates who took part in the assembly" through "regular correspondence" for which they created the "EEA3delegates mailing list". The plan to publish the proceedings, a CD and a DVD on the assembly has been confirmed. The Committee, as announced by the secretaries, "highlighted the need to deepen the cooperation on a local and European level on ‘consensus’ themes, in the light of the Charta Oecumenica, the final message of Sibiu and the declaration of the young delegates".
