From Puglia to Sicily, from Campania to Lazio, all can be identified by their traditional blue hats with the Sydney logo on them. However, many are flaunting like trophies the hats and gadgets of the previous WYDs, above all Rome and Cologne. The check-in procedures go on relentlessly, the queue is long but orderly, and the young undergo the security procedures patiently, sometimes even singing.
