"Opportunities, access and solidarity" are the three keywords of the renewed social agenda of the European Union that has been presented today in Brussels, broadcasted live in Roma and Milan. As explained by Antonia Carparelli, head of the inclusion and social aspects of immigration unit, "the purpose of the agenda is to create better opportunities for the European citizens, improve access to quality services, and express solidarity with the people who are most affected by the negative consequences of the current changes, such as climate change, the fall in the birth rate, migration, labour and so on". The priorities established by the agenda are seven: "Childhood and youth; investment in human resources; mobility; better health; fight against poverty and social exclusion; fight against discrimination and promotion of gender equality; access to the global scene". To achieve these goals, the agenda sets out a number of tools, such as "the legislation, social dialogue, cooperation among the member states, EU funding, communication". (continued)
