BENEDICT XVI: MEETING WITH KAREKIN II AND ARMENIAN DELEGATION IN THE VATICAN (2)

The Pope spoke of ecumenical dialogue again. "The path to the restoration of the full, visible communion between Christians may seem long and challenging. Much remains to be done to heal the deep, painful divisions that deface the Body of Christ. However, the Holy Spirit keeps guiding the Church in surprising, unexpected ways. It can open closed doors, inspire words that have often been forgotten, mend relations that have been broken up. If our hearts and our minds are open to the Spirit of communion, God can still work miracles in the Church, restoring bonds of unity". Then, as to the joint Committee for Theological Dialogue between the Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches, Benedict XVI thanked Karekin II for the "support provided" and for "the effective contribution" made by its members. "Let’s pray – he concluded – that its activity may lead to a full and visible communion and that the day will come when our unity in faith will enable us to jointly celebrate the Eucharist". ” ” ” “
