"The twentieth century is full of bright stars reflecting this divine love”, said Card. Bertone. It is the century in which "God aroused innumerable and heroic men and women who distributed the bread of charity, by healing hearts and soothing the plagues of the sick and of those who suffer, and by sharing the fate of the small, the poor and the last". Among these "pioneers of charity", the cardinal recalled Mother Teresa and added: "Chiara Lubich is one of those bright stars". With her "silent and humble style", she did not create "institutions for human promotion and assistance" but kindled "the fire of love in our hearts", inciting people to spread "love and unity, by rendering themselves, their houses and their work a ‘fireplace’ where love burns, contaminates, and sets the surroundings on fire". At this point, Bertone told us about the works carried out by Chiara: the "New Families and New Humanity" movements; the townlets scattered all over the five continents; the "Gen" youth movement and "Youth for Unity".
