CHIARA LUBICH: CHRISTIANS, HEBREWS, MUSLIMS AND BUDDHISTS AT THE FUNERAL OF THE "APOSTLE OF DIALOGUE"

Before the funeral liturgy, representatives of Christian movements, bishops of other Churches, and representatives of other religions will give their accounts. Perhaps, it is the most meaningful detail of the funeral of Chiara Lubich, which is taking place at the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls this afternoon (starting from 2 pm, and until 8 pm). It is an ecumenical Basilica under the historical point of view: here, in 2000, John Paul II opened the holy door together with the Christian representatives, and here, every year, the Pope concludes the prayer’s week for the unity of the Christians, together with the leaders of the Christian Churches. In a letter to Chiara – pointed out a note from the Focolare Movement today, – John Paul II called the Focolarine and the Focolarini the ‘apostles of dialogue’, "as the privileged way to promote unity: dialogue within the Catholic Church, ecumenical dialogue, interreligious dialogue, dialogue with non believers". Numerous representatives of Christian movements and communities will pay homage to Chiara. (To be continued) ” “
