"The charisma of unity has opened a new path of communion and light for the Church and for mankind", and the "bishops of Europe were able to enjoy this gift on several occasions". Those words were written by Card. Peter Erdö, archbishop of Budapest and president of the Council of the European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE), in a message sent to Father Oreste Basso "in the name" of the European Bishops’ Conferences. Oreste Basso is the co-president of the Focolare Movement. The European bishops, too pointed out Card. Erdö, – join "the prayers of a huge number of people of all the Christian faiths and of other religions, in thanking the Lord for all the mercies which the Church and the world received by means of the person Chiara". The cardinal recalls the speech of Chiara Lubich at the ecumenical assembly of Graz in 1997, her participation in the special synod for Europe in 1999, and the Stuttgart days for Europe in 2004 and 2007. "I am sure he added that Chiara will go on interceding for our Europe. In her life, Chiara was a faithful disciple of crucified Christ, and she got the secret of love through her union with Him. Now, the resurrected God welcomes her in His Glorious Kingdom. May this give trust and consolation to the great Focolare family".
