SPAIN: VII DAY FOR LIFE, ABOLISH "THE UNFAIR ABORTION LAW"

On the occasion of the VII Pro-Life Day, celebrated on 25th March (the Feast of Incarnation of the Lord in Spain), the Family and Life Commission of the Spanish Bishops’ Conference, presided over by Msgr. Juan Antonio Reig, published a document asking for the abolishment of the "unfair abortion law". In the document, the bishops confirm their support for "initiatives promoting family and life, such as the international abortion moratorium". "The Spanish society is alarmed about some abortion practices, and about the cruelty of the means used to hide them", said the bishops, with reference to the denunciations against the clinics carrying out abortion in Barcelona and Madrid. "We have been denouncing this situation for years", they added. "An alternative to abortion to be promoted is adoption". Priests ask Catholics to pray "God, asking Him to illuminate the consciences of our fellow citizens and our government leaders. The abortion law must be abolished, and women must be helped in an effective way". Then, a warning issued to believers: "No Catholic, either in the private or public sector, will ever admit practices such as abortion, euthanasia or the production and freezing of human embryos".
