An Andalusian Catholic family was acknowledged the right to conscientious objection against the school subject "Education to Citizenship" (EPC) of the Zapatero government. In the sentence, the Higher Court of Andalusia stated that "the state must acknowledge the parents’ right to be respected in their religious convictions". Benigno Blanco, president of FEF (Foro Español de la Familia Spanish Family Forum – one of the bodies promoting objection) invited "all the Spanish families which do not agree with the State indoctrination to exercise objection". The new subject, according to Benigno Blanco, "proposes values such as the positive vision of homosexuality, gender ideology and moral relativism, which are absolutely unacceptable for Catholics". Apart from FEF, CONCAPA (Confederation of Catholic parents) and the Profesionales por la Ética (Professionals for Ethics) Association also promote parents’ conscientious objection to that subject.” “It was the first court victory after two sentences in Asturias and Catalonia, which, though acknowledging objection right, could not find "reasons to object". FEF appealed to the Higher Court to review those sentences. At present, the objections against EPC, all over Spain, are about 25,000.” “
