The French Presidency of the EU is organising a seminar on European energy security in Paris on 1 December. The meeting, as explained in a statement, "will be an opportunity for dialogue between national and European politicians, energy sector companies, international organisations and actors from civil society" and "will take place shortly after the European Commission publishes its second strategic analysis of the energy situation (in November) and before the European Council of December." The seminary will be held in the framework of the Trio Presidency of the Council (the current French presidency and that of Czech Republic and Sweden for the next two terms), whose works will focus heavily on energy security issues until the end of 2009. It will also be an important milestone in the preparation of two key stages in the Trio’s work programme: the adoption in spring 2009 of the second strategic analysis of the energy situation, which will be published by the European Commission, and the definition of the EU Energy Action Plan from 2010 onwards.” ” ” ” ” ” ” “
