Tomorrow 27 November, Spain will take over the presidency of the Council of Europe (CE) Committee of Ministers from Sweden at a meeting in Strasbourg. Under the joint presidency of Carl Bildt, Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, and his Spanish counterpart Miguel Ángel Moratinos, Ministers’ Deputies will meet at Palais de l’Europe. Mr Biildt will take stock of the Swedish Chairmanship and outline the main achievements since 7 May. On the agenda "the adoption of a number of texts, the priorities for future action in co-operation with the European Union, the Strategy 2008-2009 for the programme ‘Building a Europe for and with children’, the Council of Europe Convention on Access to Official Documents." Miguel Ángel Moratinos will then outline the priorities of the Spanish Chairmanship for the coming six months. The meeting will be preceded by the ceremony to mark the opening for signature of two treaties, in the presence of the CE Secretary General Terry Davis: the European Convention on the Adoption of Children (revised) and the Additional Protocol to the Convention on Human rights and Biomedicine concerning Genetic Testing for Health Purposes. ” ” ” “
