"Deep inequalities remain in education that condemn millions of children across the world to limited prospects if not to poverty": this is in short the conclusion of the 2008 World Report on Education for Everyone "Defeating inequality: the importance of governance" promoted by Unesco, which will be presented in Geneva on November 25th. "Despite the efforts made by some of the poorest countries on the planet to improve access to education reads a note , serious inequalities remain, and "there is a serious risk that the international aids for education may have to pay for the current financial crisis". Published every year since 2002, the Report is developed by an independent team of experts in order to take stock, since the World Forum on Education held in Dakar (Senegal) in 2000, of the progress made towards achieving the target of "Education for everyone" by 2015. The file will be launched during the opening of the World Conference on Education that will take place in Geneva from November 25th to 28th, in the presence of the General manager of Unesco, Koïchiro Matsuura, and the Director of the Report, Kevin Watkins.
