Brussels is getting ready to receive 40 thousand young people who will come to the city from December 29th to January 2nd to attend the European Youth Meeting, which has been promoted for over 10 years by the Ecumenical Community of Taizé, taking inspiration from its founder, frère Roger. In the run-up to the youth coming to Brussels, in these days the Community of Taizè has made an appeal to the population of Brussels and the neighbouring towns to open their doors and offer accommodation to these young people. The slogan for the appeal is "Two square metres of warmth = 1 boy at home". A release explains that "21 thousand host families are still to be found", as 30 thousand young people will be coming from abroad. Potential host families can put in their offers on a website. So, Brussels, on the invitation of card. Godfried Danneels and in cooperation with the Christian Churches, has been chosen as the 2008 "stop" of the "Pilgrimage of trust on earth", which has covered a long route all through the European continent, passing through Geneva, Zagreb, Lisbon, Paris, Budapest. The young this is how the frères explain this initiative "come to try and walk the ways of trust: trust between people, trust between Christians of different traditions, trust between different populations, trust in God".
