Then, the Pope asked that "every member of the Lebanese people be made to feel truly at home in Lebanon and see his concerns and his legitimate expectations truly taken into account. A "lasting peace" is "the deep aspiration of all the Lebanese", and it is "possible insofar as everyone retains a genuine will to live together on the same land and consider justice, reconciliation and dialogue as a picture that furthers the solution of the problems of people and groups". The Pope ended his speech by asking the Lebanese for "deeper and deeper cooperation among all the members of the nations and assured that "the Holy See keeps following the developments of the situation with great attention", because – he added – "it is particularly sensitive to the sufferings that the populations of the Middle East have been experiencing for a long time".
