EU: PARIS, THE CONFERENCE "NEW PERSPECTIVES FOR INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE" IS ON ” ” ” “

” ” Strategic guidelines and initiatives by the public authorities in 2008, the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue; the media contribution to building a European citizenship and to the encounter between cultures; the role this dialogue occupies in Europe’s relations with third-party countries; these are only some of the topics that are going to be discussed at the conference "New Perspectives for Intercultural Dialogue in Europe" taking place from today (to November 19) in Paris. "The conference," a statement reads, "is the high point of the year. It should demonstrate the wealth of projects conducted and capitalise on relevant achievements" in order to "promote intercultural dialogue in the public policies of the European Union as well as in the policies of the Member States and territorial communities in the long term." The project and studies presented at the conference were selected by a jury of experts based on an invitation for proposals launched at the beginning of the year. The conference will be attended by Jean Figel, European Commissioner for Education and Culture, Gabriella Battain (CoE) and Katèrina Stenou (UNESCO), among others.
