"The Christian faith was born within the community of the whole Church, and it is developing and living within it". Those words were written by Card. Antonio María Rouco Varela, archbishop of Madrid, in his pastoral letter for the Diocesan Church Day to be celebrated on 16th November. According to the archbishop, that Day "is meant to increase the sense of communion in all the Madrid Christians, in such a way that we may take part in the life of the Church happily and generously, because, our lives depend on that Church". "You witness the faith of your Church. Contribute to it!" is the subject chosen for the Day. It means that witnessing and participating are two closely linked elements in the life of the Church. "The Church stated the cardinal invites us to live the communion within faith, which is communion within life. And whenever we ask for spiritual and financial help to face several necessities, we do that in the interest of others". Finally, there was an invitation "to witness our faith in such a way that the account, translated into charitable and justice works may attract the people of our time", letting us find out "that the Church is our homeland, where anybody may contribute to other people’s weal". Together with the letter by the cardinal, the diocese made known the 2007 budget of the diocese’s administration and of parishes.
