Teaching the visitors, especially the young, about scientific and technical culture and offering a view of European research: these are the goals of the "European City of Science" promoted in Paris (Grand Palais), from 14th to 16th November, by the French Ministry of Advanced Education and Research. The event marks the beginning of the "Feast of Science" (17 – 23 November). "In the districts of the European City of Science explain the promoters , the 50 thousand expected visitors will learn how researchers live and work, for instance through a weather forecast station or an archaeological excavation site". Guided by researchers from all over Europe, they will be able to visit a botanical garden and admire unique items, such as an airship, a giant map of the Earth or a robot. Research and university bodies, businesses and associations will present, in a practical, user-friendly way, the work carried out by European workgroups, innovations and their applications to daily life, while the public will take part in experiments and debates. 80 projects (with about twenty from other EU countries) will be on display from 14th to 16th November. A "youth area" will be allocated to young people aged 7 to 15.
