From November 12th to 14th, Brussels will host the Autumn plenary meeting of the Commission of EU Bishops Conferences (Comece) on "The current challenges for Europe". Items on the agenda include the report on climate change and the Christian lifestyle; Sunday as a holiday in the Directive on Working Time; the Lisbon Treaty; Christian refugees in the world; the EU’s partnership with Russia after the Georgian crisis. Speeches will be given by MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, president of the Foreign Affairs Commission at the EP; Bobby McDonagh, deputy plenipotentiary ambassador and permanent delegate of Ireland to the EU; Norbert Walter, head economist of Deutsche Bank; Jacques Barrot, deputy president of the European Commission; Jean-Pascal Van Ypersele, deputy chairman of the Intergovernmental Expert Panel on climate change (Ipcc), member of Comece’s expert group on climate change. The meeting will take place in Comece’s new premises, in Square de Meeûs 19. A press conference will be held on Friday November 14th at 2 pm by the president of Comece, mgr. Adrianus Van Luyn, bishops Piotr Jarecki and Diarmuid Martin, deputy presidents, and the secretary general, father Piotr Mazurkiewicz.
