"I was a stranger and you welcomed me. Migrations as the new space for evangelisation and solidarity." This is the theme of the Seminary promoted by the Council of Bishops’ Conferences of Europe (CCEE) and the Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) from 19 to 23 November in Liverpool, European Capital of Culture 2008, on Mgr Patrick Kelly’s invitation. The meeting "is part of the CCEE-SECAM four-years project launched in Rome for the first symposium in 2004" to "promote cooperation between European and African Bishops and deepen the common responsibility for evangelisation and human promotion," is explained in a note. Among the themes discussed by the some 40 participants representatives of the European and African Bishops’ Conferences, Vatican Dicasteries and charities there is the biblical-theological perspective of welcoming the strangers; migrations from Africa to Europe in a global context; the European and African policy on this matter; new forms of slavery; pastoral care for refugees.
