The Chief Rabbi of Brussels, Albert Guigui, will open today a cycle of conferences on inter-religious dialogue in Namur. The conferences, promoted by the diocese, will be held until 10 December. As an introductory note reads "as part of theological studies, this cycle is open to different Church figures (priests, deacons, parish assistants, ministers and committed lay people) and is an introduction to the complex and topical issue of inter-religious dialogue." The aim of the initiative is to "offer evaluation parameters for measuring the efforts undertaken and to define the principles for a fruitful dialogue between the main religions." The six conferences will be held on Wednesday afternoons from today to 10 December (3pm) in Namur’s Major Seminary. Today, rabbi Guigui will introduce the concept of inter-religious dialogue in its scriptural basis and in the rabbinical tradition according to the Judaist vision. The other meetings will be attended among others by Father Bernard-Joseph Samain, from Orval Abbey, who will bring his experience of inter-monastic dialogue with the Far East Religions, and by Mgr Guy Harpigny, Bishop of Tournai and a member of the Pontifical Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue, who will focus on the dialogue with Islam.” “
