BENEDICT XVI: AUDIENCE, "CHRISTIANITY IS NOT THE WAY OF COMFORT" (2)

"Suffering is a part of Christian life," said the Pope speaking extempore and quoting Saint Augustine, because living the faith conveys the courage of facing life, of facing history in a deeper way. Only in this way, challenged by the suffering, we will find life in all its depth, its beauty, its great promise." For the faithful "it is important that the heart believes the Christ, but bearing the faith in the heart is not enough. We must witness to it with our life, thus making the truth of Christ’s Resurrection a reality in our history," explained Benedict XVI. Then he concluded today’s general audience catechesis attended by some 13 thousand faithful saying "in this hope we walk with hope and joy".
