"Christianity is not the way of comfort, it is rather a tough climb, yet illuminated by the light of Christ and by His great hope." These words were spoken by the Pope in today’s general audience catechesis on the centrality of the mystery of Christ’s Resurrection as the "keystone of St. Paul’s theology." "The theology of the cross is not a theory, it is the reality of Christian life," pointed out Benedict XVI, as "living the faith in Jesus Christ, living the truth and the love, implies sacrifice and suffering every day." In this perspective, "the faithful find themselves between two realities: on one hand, resurrection which is already achieved; on the other, the need to join the process by which everyone and everything is brought to fulfilment." According to the Pope, this process is well described in St Paul’s Letter to the Romans: "as the whole creation groans and travails in pain, even we ourselves groan waiting for the redemption of our body." In other words, the "true faithful", – thanks to Christ’s resurrection on which "the hope of entering one day with Christ in our true homeland in heaven is built" is joining the process by which the first Adam, an earthly creature subject to death and corruption, is transforming into the last Adam, celestial and incorruptible".
