"The respect of the mutuality principle is not preliminary to dialogue, it does not respond to the ‘Do ut des’ principle (I will give you if you give me). It would be anti-Christian". With these words, card. Jean-Louis Tauran, president of the Papal Council for Inter-Religious Dialogue, presents in an interview with the French newspaper "La Croix" the approach of the Holy See to the principle of the freedom of conscience and religious practice. In the interview, that he gave just before the Islamo-Christian Forum starting in the Vatican tomorrow, the cardinal expresses the hope that the question of religious freedom may be tackled by the Vatican summit.
