A trade of false documents has been discovered in Spain for families wanting to adopt Russian children. The news has been relayed by the "Russian Federation Journal". The false documents scandal came to light when an Andalusian family received a permit from the adoption authorities to go to the Russian Federation and adopt two siblings. With all documents at the ready, the couple left for Moscow. Something went wrong: the siblings’ permit to leave the Russian borders and enter Spain was denied, because the Spanish Consulate to Moscow instantly realised those documents were false. Back to Andalusia, the perspective adoptive parents sued the regional authorities. The Andalusian authorities stated that a substantial number of children from the Russian Federation have been adopted through the federal service Ekai, under the supervision of the central bodies of the Interior Ministry. In the light of this event, checks on papers for adoptions in the Russian Federation will become even stricter. Another two regions, in which many Russian children are adopted are Arjoke and Asturia, will be involved in the investigation to check the papers issued by perspective adoptive families.
