"Peace recall the Patriarchs and the archbishops is a work of justice! It is an imperative we cannot and do not want to neglect. Therefore, in particular, for the Holy Land, Lebanon, Iraq and India, we ask for peace in justice, which is granted by real religious freedom". The Patriarchs and the archbishops declare to be "close to the people who suffer for the Christian faith, and to all the believers whose religious profession is denied. We pay homage to the Christians who lost their lives recently". Before the Pope and the synodal fathers, "encouraged by their brotherhood", the Patriarchs and the archbishops made "urgent requests: to the Christians and to all the men of good will for respecting and welcoming the neighbour in daily life, assisting all the people in need, either near or far; to the pastors and religious people in charge, for preaching and fostering such attitude, supporting and multiplying initiatives of mutual knowledge, dialogue and aid; to the international community and the men of government, who should grant the real religious freedom on the international level, overcoming any discriminations, helping all the people who are forced to leave their lands for religious reasons". The appeal closes with the invitation "to look for new paths of peace, rendered effective through the Blessing of God".
