The French town of Rennes hosts the fourth session of the European parliament of the young from today to 2nd November. The youth parliament has been set up by the current presidency of the European Union Council, under the patronage of the president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Poettering. The session, said the organizers, "gathers over three hundred boys and girls from 16 to 24 years of age, coming from thirty European countries. They will debate and tackle the current great community questions". The programme "emphasizes exchanges between different nationalities, thus allowing the participants to live their European citizenships". A group of participants will manage the works, while, at different times during the week, there will be speeches by Xavier Darcos, French minister of education, Jacques Barrot, vice president of the European Commission, and other personalities in the political and economical world. The session "will start with some communication exercises (Teambuilding). The young, divided into several work commissions, will draw up some resolutions to be debated later on. The resolutions will be voted in plenary session". Furthermore, exhibitions, excursions, cultural events and a "European Concert" are scheduled.
