Islam, dialogue with the Jews, ecumenism, the family, translation of the Bible. These are other "crucial issues" addressed by the Minor Circles of the Episcopal Synod, submitted today at the eighteenth general congregation of the synodal assembly. The reports have been summarised at a "briefing" in the newsroom of the Holy See. Some Minor Circles, they said, have highlighted the need to "guide the young to discover and love God’s Word, so that they can play their role as the agents of the mission, especially amongst their peers". A point that was shared by several reports concerns the appointment of the extraordinary ministers of the Word. Such ministers, explained the speakers, would be specifically trained for this mission and officially appointed by the bishop. The speakers of the Italian Minor Circles (A and B) were mgr. Salvatore Fisichella, president of the Papal Pro-Life Academy and rector of the Papal Lateran University, and mgr. Vincenzo Paglia, bishop of Terni and president of the Catholic Biblical Federation, respectively. During the "briefing", it has been said that they both recalled that the announcement of the Word is a primary task for the Church. Finally, the Minor Circles asked that "world Eucharistic Congresses should give" more "space to the Word".” ” ” “
