"The family, column of society" is the theme of the Second National Congress of the Spanish Family Forum, taking place in Madrid, at the seat of the "Ceu San Pablo" University, on 18th. The president of the Forum, Benigno Blanco, will deliver the first speech on the subject "The public responsibility of the family within the current society". According to the Forum, the Congress is meant to be a time for meeting, social dialogue, and exchange of experiences between the associations, to reflect on the value, the importance and the social role of the family as point of reference for the social system. It also intends to point out the fundamental function of the family in the development of the human person. This year, the Congress is also meant to be an opportunity for analysis and debate on the necessities of the family in Spain today. Apart from sensitizing the general public on the role of the family as guarantor of social cohesion, the role which the family may play at this time of economic crisis will be pointed out. In periods like this, above all, the important interfamily solidarity function emerges, in relation also to intergenerational relationships. Finally, said the organizers, the day is meant to promote the participation of the people and social volunteering through the associations gathering families.
