"The Church leaders must undertake a serious examination of lifestyles and goods within the Church in the light of God’s Word and take every possible measure to promote the social doctrine." These words were spoken by” “Thomas Hong-Soon Han, Professor of Economics at the College of Business and” “Economics in Seoul and President of the Apostolate of Lay Catholics in Korea. Mr Han was one of the 18 listeners who spoke at the XIV General Congregation Synod of Bishops. "We need competent teachers in the field of social doctrine and in the study of the Word of God," he said, adding that "the Church should invest human and financial resources in the formation of teachers." According to Mr Han, "every time the Church sings a commercial contract, she should make sure it is based on principles of justice and provides sufficient wages to live on and a good working environment. Unfortunately for the Church, this was not always the case in the past." Hence the hope that "the Synod will promote a biblical lifestyle in which the Church is bearing witness and promoting lay formation."
