"Developed in close cooperation with the parties concerned (the state, local authorities, welfare partners and businesses, associations), the active-inclusion strategy aims at easing the social inclusion of all citizens". This means "contributing to the search for a balance between economic prosperity and equableness", based on the European social model. Tomorrow’s workshop in Marseille is expected to define a few guidelines for the action of the states and the EU, which will then be submitted to the Council of the Ministers of the 27 member states dealing with poverty and inclusion, due to take place in that city on October 16th. "In addition adds a note from the EU Presidency ,this conference will help prepare the Year for the Fight against Poverty and Social Exclusion", that will be celebrated in 2010. The meeting of the Ministers has been convened in the hope they "will deliver effective results for the fight against poverty within the Union" and "involves a strong political commitment by the member states", in the wake of the Lisbon Strategy of March 2000. "The results that have been delivered so far admits the current Presidency are inadequate, while new forms of instability are appearing within the Union, such as those that affect poor workers".
