The survey showed that 32% of Italians attend religious rites at least once a week, more than the French (10%) and the Spanish (20%), but less than the Filipinos (66%), Poles (55%) and Americans (45%). 85% of Italian pray but only one half do it every day or so. However, few know the Bible. Only 14% of the interviewees managed to answer correctly to the seven questions asked by the interviewers to test their knowledge of the text, versus 20% of the Poles and 17% of Americans and English, while 28% answered correctly to less than 3 questions. The horizon of people who prefer to follow religious events on TV is growing. The survey lingers on the case of Holland: the only case in which "the confessional difference often seems to be significantly correlated to what we might call the level of individual familiarity with the Scriptures". 71% of Dutch Protestants have read the Bible in the last year versus 28% of Catholics. In addition, Protestants consider it more interesting (78% versus 46% of Catholics) and more related to daily life (62% versus 31%).
