The Christian community of Mosul has gone through a week of terror and death. And today, the day of Muslim prayers in mosques, local imams have not spoken any word of sympathy or solidarity to Christians. That is what Father Amer Youkhanna, a Chaldean priest of Mosul who is resident in Rome, told to Baghdadhope quoting indirect sources of the Iraqi city. "Everyone in Mosul has paid attention to the Imam’s words in the Mosques today that is Friday. The majority of them, that is what I was told, has made no mention to the violence perpetrated in the last few days. Only a few have encouraged the believers to stay in good terms with all the inhabitants of the city." Concerning everyday life, said the priest, "everyday is getting more difficult. Nobody can go out shopping, except when the city is semi-desert. When they have to go out, women are very careful and wear the veil to be taken for Muslims. Who was working cannot work any more and without money it is impossible to buy food and oil for power generators." The general feeling among Christians is "fear" and then "suffering" for having to leave their city. On Sunday, "it is not sure Churches will be open for Mass."
