” ” The campaign of solidarity with the Catholic Church of Cuba, promoted by the Papal association "Aiuto alla Chiesa che soffre" (Acs) of Spain, has been a real hit. The campaign, which was focussed on "The revolution of the Gospel", began on July 1st and lasted three months. The goal was to raise the awareness of the Spanish public opinion of the situation of the Catholics in the Caribbean country and fund 22 projects in ten dioceses of the country, divided into five broad areas: ecclesial infrastructure, education, mass media, subsistence, and offering of Masses for priests. The statistics published by "Aiuto alla Chiesa che soffre" show that the campaign raised 186,005 euros, which will be used to fund 22 projects for the rebuilding and refurbishment of churches, the training and catechesis of the devotees, and the subsistence of religious people and priests. In addition to the proceeds from this campaign, "Aiuto alla Chiesa che soffre" has allocated another 60,000 euros as emergency aids to several Cuban dioceses, after hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
