(From our correspondent SirEuropa in Esztergom Hungary) Catholics and Orthodox together "for the defence and promotion of Christian values". This is the spirit in which Trento will host the first Catholic-Orthodox Forum on the family, from November 11th to 14th. The initiative was announced today by the Plenary Meeting of the Presidents of the European Bishops Conferences, since Ccee has decided to organise such first meeting. Guests will be 24: 12 delegates from the Orthodox Churches of Europe and 12 Catholics. For the Catholic side, in addition to the delegates of the European Bishops Conferences, there will be the delegates of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, the Papal Council for Justice and Peace, and the Papal Pro-Life Academy. For the Orthodox side, there will be several delegates from the European Patriarchates, from Moscow to Constantinople. "The recent historical and cultural changes occurred in Europe said the Ccee at the plenary meeting today urgently require a common testimony and cooperation between the Christian communities". "The Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches specially share such concern. That’s why they have started to conduct a joint reflection on the possibility to set up a Catholic-Orthodox Forum in Europe to discuss together pastoral subjects of common interest".
