CCEE: MGR. DI FALCO-LEANDRI (CEEM), WITH THE MEDIA "APPRECIATION AND MUTUAL ESTEEM"

(From SirEuropa correspondent in Esztrgom – Hungary) – In the European media, stated this morning mgr. di Falco Leandri, "one cannot speak of a veritable defamatory strategy against the Church", but often they "attack the Christian values (family, marriage, defence of life …)", even if, he specified, "news about the Church and its successes are published more often that negative news". The survey shows that "the coverage given to the work of the Church and the quality of the information depend a lot on the possibility of a direct, personal dialogue with the journalists and the availability of bishops and press offices to answer their questions". Because of this, highlighted the prelate, some Bishops Conferences "have created and developed their own media (papers, TV, radio, press agencies ….)"; "Catholic websites and press agencies seem to be the most widespread and effective". According to the president of Ceem, "the world of the media is to be regarded as a ground for evangelisation" and "success with the media takes time, skills, mutual knowledge and esteem, and is mostly based on a good communication within the Church itself".
